Everything Belongs
You know that feeling within you when you walk into a sacred space? What is going on interiorly? Perhaps it is your soul reconnecting to something holy, divine, ancient, lost, or missing. Maybe it is the longing for another thing we can not even name. We hope that this virtual chapel can be just that space- an invitation to stillness, silence, and solitude, the three pillars we crave for a balanced life.
We invite you to take a moment of stillness to read this poem and perhaps journal with some spiritual direction questions. We are living in challenging times. What does it mean to allow everything to belong? How can it deepen you? What illusions have sheltered you? How can you live vitally, allowing people, places, and situations to form you? What does God have to say to you in this poem?
They say, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
I say, whenever I resist the sure defeat of bitterness,
things can deepen me.
A cut can hollow out sacred space for compassion.
A pain can awaken the illusions that have sheltered me.
So I live vitally,
as if everything has the power to form me.
Everything belongs.
Because then…
The good, the bad and the ugly
Has a way of making me beautiful, resilient and
Committedly unshakable
