Our Training Program
Why Our Program?
Our Program is recognized by institutions both regionally and internationally
Our comprehensive two-year curriculum began with the support of Carolinas Medical Center’s Spiritual Care Education Program. It has since developed into a leading program nationally. Our program is also recognized by Spiritual Director’s International (SDI), an inclusive, global learning community that serves and supports the service of spiritual direction. SDI has more than six-thousand members on six continents who represent more than fifty spiritual traditions. Upon completion, each student will graduate with a certificate stating they have successfully completed a two-year Spiritual Direction Program at the Charlotte Spirituality Center. Graduates then qualify to become recognized members with Spiritual Directors International.
The Charlotte Spirituality Center is a living, breathing community
We believe that the ancient practice of Spiritual Direction is a sacred experience of mystical Presence. Because of this belief, the healing energy of our shared space is an important component to the experience our students have in the training program. We believe that students who are able to experience the personal connection and active presence of others on the journey make better directors. Our faculty are committed to relationships of support and shared journey with program participants. Meeting with a spiritual director monthly and supervision by a faculty member are requirements of our program. We want to support the holistic formation of our students on their spiritual journeys in a way that models with integrity the kind of calling they are pursuing.
The Charlotte Spirituality Center does not discriminate against qualified applicants or students on the basis of their race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender, gender identification, sexual preference, marital status, veteran status, or ability, and abides by the Non-Discrimination Policy set in place by law.
